As happens every year and seemingly gets worse each year, insurance companies restrict writing new policies on residential and commercial properties near active fire zones. For some insurers, these restrictions can extend up to 50km. Some of these curbs are well-founded while others are highly questionable, but there's nothing credit unions can do about them.
