B.C. Employment Insurance Trends
B.C. unemployment trends showed some cracks in December as employment insurance (EI) counts rose following a November dip while the number of claims received posted the strongest single-month increase since August 2018. 

B.C. Economic Briefing
• Average weekly earnings unchanged in December
• Small business confidence remains subdued in February
• Capital investment expectations for 2020 up 7 per cent 

Ontario Employment Insurance Trends
December Employment Insurance (EI) beneficiaries declined by 0.1 per cent or 80 net beneficiaries. This was due to an increase of 630 net new beneficiaries in census metropolitan areas which partially offset the decline of 710 beneficiaries in census agglomerations and rural areas combined.

Ontario Economic Briefing
• Lower average weekly earnings growth in services put a lid on overall average weekly wage growth in December
• Transportation equipment manufacturing falls robustly to close out 2019
• February's small-business confidence index reached highest level in a year
