In the midst of a lot of different headlines this week, you probably missed this one -- The euro fell to its lowest level since early 2017. Part of this is due to weakness in the euro, and part is due to general strength in the dollar. So far this year the US dollar is stronger against all the G10 currencies by one 1 to 4 percent and higher against almost every other currency in the world. The few exceptions are the Mexican peso, Indonesian rupia, Israeli shekel and, interestingly, the Hong Kong dollar, but those currencies have high deposit rates to attract investors and their levels against the dollar are only up by about 1 percent.
