Hundreds of high profile economists and forecasters regularly predict the direction of stock markets. It is incredible how often they are wrong. Apologies if the chart below is a bit hard to read but it shows dozens of predictions of impending doom and "sell everything" recommendations from famous forecasters and major investment firms over the past several years as the market has marched higher.
Of course the market will take a dive sooner or later. It could be today, tomorrow, next year or whatever. No one knows. All we do know is that over long time periods the stock market has always produced gains but the short term ride is often very bumpy. Set your mix of stocks vs bonds to match your time frame, goals and ability to stomach volatility..........and ignore the forecasters!
