All, Over the years, we have learned many lessons about creating productive public-private partnerships in communities across the country where we do business. To share these insights and learn from others as we advance our efforts to spark long term, self-sustaining economic growth, we’re excited to launch a new partnership with Axios and the U.S. Conference of Mayors, Zoom In. This partnership is designed to bring together elected officials, community leaders, and policy experts to share and scale learnings on addressing key issues such as housing, healthcare, and the impact of new innovations on the workforce. JPMorganChase, Axios, and the U.S. Conference of Mayors will facilitate this knowledge sharing through conversations across the country and a content hub, where local leaders and experts will contribute their experiences and stories. We hope this platform will serve as a valuable resource for communities looking to implement effective strategies for economic development. Zoom In officially kicked off in Washington, D.C., yesterday, as part of the U.S. Conference of Mayors’ Winter Meeting, with over 200 stakeholders, clients, and business leaders in attendance. The event featured opening remarks from Tim Berry, Global Head of Corporate Responsibility and Chairman of the Mid-Atlantic Region, and a series of conversations with mayors from across the country and members of Congress, as well as a fireside chat between Detroit Mayor Mike Duggan and JPMorganChase Vice Chair Peter Scher. “Mayor Duggan said, ‘help me figure out how to fix this problem,’ and if there are things that can be done better outside City Hall than inside City Hall, [our partnership in Detroit] was all about how do you actually fix the problem, how do you work with partners, local partners,” said Peter Scher. “When you have the right players working together on the ground, that’s when we can really help support and influence both with resources but also with our technology and intellectual expertise." Throughout the event, we heard about many of the lessons we’ve learned from our decade-long partnership in Detroit, from listening closely to communities as a first step to revitalization and collaborating across public and private sectors, to the clear evidence that investing in communities is good business. The D.C. launch set the stage for a year-long series of convenings in Chicago, Austin, Columbus, Boston, San Francisco, and Atlanta. By bringing together local leaders and experts, these events will aim to showcase scalable local solutions for promoting economic growth and prosperity.
